Summary
Born deaf in New York City; attended the Wright Oral School for the Deaf, the Lexington School for the Deaf, finally graduating from the New York School for the Deaf (Fanwood). His parents noticed his artistic talents and hired private tutors to work with him after school and on weekends. Attended the National Academy of Design, then studied independently in the U.S. and in France. Noted for portraits, but also did landscapes, seascapes, and other subjects. Exhibited in galleries and museums in the U.S. and France. Gave up painting when stricken with multiple sclerosis in the 1980s.
