Hearing. Gave the first recorded holy communion to a deaf person (identity unknown), in 1604. Buried at Annecy, France. Primary Catholic patron saint of the deaf (though the Venerable Bede, St. Cadoc, St. Drogo, St. Ouen of Rouen, and St. Ovidio [all q.v.], are also called patron saints of the deaf).
