Summary
Born at Laredo, TX; attended Texas Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb, 1884-1889. Worked several years each as a printer and a "deputy market master", then 2 years as a saddle and harness maker, which he considered his trade. However, he left the latter business to work for a bridge company, then as city market master for Laredo. His two brothers were also deaf, owners of a Texas cattle ranch.
