Summary
Born "deaf and dumb"; a member of the Wodeyar ruling dynasty of Mysore, a state in India which lasted until 1947. Named after his great-grandfather; succeeded his father as Maharaja of Mysore, 1704 until his death in 1714. While he had no great achievements, he did preserve the glorious traditions of his (hearing) predecessors. None of his successors were also deaf. Spelling variations of his first name include Kanthirava and Kantirava; of his last name, Wadiyar and Odeyar. He was also nicknamed Mukarasu or Mookarasu ("The Dumb Chief").
