Summary
Deafened at age 2. Reportedly the first Finnish deaf person to be educated (by Abraham Argillander, superintendent of the nitre works at Oesterbotten), around 1761. Deaf education did not reappear in Finland for another century, until Carl Oscar Malm (q.v.) opened a private school for the deaf in Porvoo.
