Hard of hearing. Served as Prime Minister of Australia, 1915-1923, and remained active in Australian politics until his death. In later life, he became hard of hearing and wore a hearing aid. Supposedly, when he wanted to ignore his political opponents in the parliament, he would simply turn off his hearing aid.
