Summary
Born in Brooklyn, NY; deafened at age 7 from spinal meningitis. Attended the New York School for the Deaf at Fanwood, 1921-1932; graduated Gallaudet College in 1937, then continued to study art. Taught art at the West Virginia, Michigan, California (Berkeley) and California (Riverside) Schools for the Deaf; retired in 1977. His artwork was displayed in many galleries, including the National Gallery, the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, and Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, and one painting is at Gallaudet University. He published poetry, and was wrestling coach for the U.S. team at the World Games for the Deaf, Yugoslavia, 1969; died at Riverside.
