Summary
Born deaf at Ottawa; adopted by hearing parents soon after. Public schools until entering a special class for the deaf in the Ottawa school system at age 12; Ontario School for the Deaf, Belleville 1932-1935. Typist and office staff in several Toronto companies until retiring after World War II to devote full time to raising a family. After the children grew up, went back to work retiring for good in 1983. Active in the deaf community of Ontario and of Canada; recipient of several awards, including the Order of Ontario in 1989.
