Summary
Born at Budapest, deaf either at birth or in early life. Studied art for a short time privately and at the School for Industrial Drawing in Budapest, but was mainly self-taught as an artist. His artistic style changed several times during his lifetime under influence from foreign modern art movements. He did many portrait paintings, including many Hungarian intellecturals. Left Hungary for Vienna in 1920, moved to Berlin in 1921, then to Paris in 1923 where he stayed until his death.
