Born at Richmond, Indiana; attended the Indiana School for the Deaf, transferred to the Ohio School for the Deaf, then graduated from the Cincinnati Oral School. Studied at the Cincinnati Building Trades School and graduated the Ohio Mechanics Institute (1930); associated with a Cincinnati firm. Certificated to practice architecture in Ohio, 1941; later also acquired certification in Kentucky, Illinois, and Calfornia. Married Harriet Wilson in 1937.
