Summary
Born deaf; his sister Elizabeth Mary McGovern was also born deaf. Attended the Ontario Insititution for the Education and Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb, Belleville, 1911-1923, then Toronto Central Technical College 1924-1925. Worked as a printer, then in 1928 began work as a postal clerk until his 1966 retirement. Participated extensively in various deaf sports while still in school and continued well into adulthood; also served in and founded several deaf sports organizations as well as some deaf non-sports organizations. Winner of many honors.
