Summary
In Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, Antonius is talking to Caesar, and Caesar tells him, "Come on my right hand, for this [left] ear is deaf" (act I, scene 2). However, this seems to be "artistic license" by Shakespeare, as there is no ancient Roman account of Julius Caesar having a hearing impairment.
