Summary
Born at Newport, KY to deaf parents; deaf from whooping cough at age 1. Entered the Kentucky School for the deaf in 1888, graduating and entering Gallaudet College in 1895 (B.A., 1900). Was offered and took a teaching job at the North Dakota School for the deaf upon his graduation from Gallaudet.
