Summary
Born deaf at Rivers, MB, though deafness not discovered until about age 3. Ontario School for the Deaf, Alberta School for the Deaf, Atlantic Provinces Resource Center for the Hearing Handicapped, then graduated Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside, NS, 1987. One year at St. Mary's University and one at University of Manitoba, but dropped out to marry Marvin Sutherland Koskie, also deaf. Worked as house manager at a group home, taught evening ASL courses, then became a community counselor and reading project coordinator with a Manitoba social service agency. Played on the Canadian basketball deaf in the 1985 World Games for the Deaf.
