Summary
Deafened at age 8 by a fever; home-schooled; teacher at the New York School (Fanwood), 1830-31 and 1867-74. Wrote numerous poems, articles, and the collection, Tales of the Deaf and Dumb, with Miscellaneous Poems; received an honorary M.A. from Gallaudet in 1870.
