Summary
Born at Chicoutimi, PQ; deafened at age 5 from meningitis. Entered L'Institution des Sourdes in Montreal at 7 1/2 years of age, graduating 11 years later. Took religious vows with the Congregation of Our Lady of Seven Dolors, a unique all-deaf Catholic religious community. Became a teacher at the Institution; after 20 years, left the nunnery to reenter the secular world. Worked for the Canadian passport office and then the Adoption Bureau, from which she retired in 1996. Married Oscar Desrosiers in about 1968 and had a daughter; active in volunteering in the Deaf community, including founding two social service agencies for the deaf.
