Duchesne, Lawrence Claude Joseph

Born in Rouyn, Quebec; deaf at 2 from spinal meningitis; Halifax School for the Deaf 1941-1952 and Halifax County Vocational High School 1953-1955. Assistant scoutmaster for a Halifax Boy Scouts of Canada troop 1952-1958, then became Canada's first officially-registered deaf scoutmaster in 1958. This lasted until 1961 when the Halifax school's closing led to the dismantling of the Halifax deaf troop. Married Judith Ann Levy in 1969.
