Hearing. A Church of England priest and member of the Royal Society. Said to have taught two deaf boys, Alexander Popham (brother-in-law to the Earl of Oxford) and Daniel Whaley (son of the mayor of Northampton) to speak, and to have demonstrated this feat to King Charles II in May 1662.
