Summary
Born deaf at Stratford, ON and graduated the Ontario School for the Deaf in 1958. Gallaudet College B.A. (1963) and M.Ed. (1964). Blocked from teaching in Canada by restrictive rules, instead taught at the Minnesota School for the Deaf 3 years until marrying an Italian man and moving to Italy. After that short marriage ended, she taught at the Maryland School for the Deaf for over 20 years. While there she met and remarried to Mark Anton Wait. Elementary school principal at the Mississippi School for the Deaf 3 years until she had to care for her husband when he was diagnosed with cancer. After his death, she taught English and supervised the high school department at the Virginia School for the Deaf.
