Summary
At the South Dakota School for the Deaf, he was a strong all-around athlete, playing on the school football and basketball teams and also participating in track and field meets. After graduating in 1957, went to Gallaudet College where he repeated his athletic prowess and also participated in the World Games for the Deaf, taking the 1961 bronze medal in 3-meter diving and placed 5th in the 1965 3-meter diving event.
