Born at St. Jean du Gard; deafened at age 4 by illness; student at St. Hypollite de Fort. Worked for the Corporation of Paris until retirement; was instrumental in the establishment of the first sports club for deaf persons (1911, in Paris), a national sports club, and the Comite International des Sports Silencieux, being president of the latter until 1953.
