Summary
Born at Newton Abbot; deaf from scarlet fever in early childhood. Student at the Royal Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, Derby; apprenticed to become a china painter at a china factory. Among other work, he did a set of dessert plates for King Edward VII. Also did book illustrations, and became involved in lay mission work among the deaf of Derby, Durham, and Leicester. Died of illness, apparently not older than his 30s.
