Summary
Born at Lloydminster, AB; deaf from illness at an early age. Began schooling at the Mackay Centre for the Deaf, then graduated the Alberta School for the Deaf in 1965. B.A. from Gallaudet College, 1970 plus continuing education courses at the University of Alberta for certificates in general education and elementary education. Worked in various school positions, rising to assistant principal at the Alberta School for the Deaf. In 2001, named to the Order of Canada, that country's highest civilian public honor.
