Summary
Born at Brooklyn, NY and deafened at age 5 by mastoiditis; attended the Lexington School for the Deaf and the New York School for the Deaf; graduated Gallaudet College in 1948. Mathematics teacher at the California School for the Deaf, Riverside, when he was named California Teacher of the Year in 1969; later Assistant Superintendent at the same school. Became principal of the Taft Aurally Handicapped School in Santa Ana, CA, 1974-1978, then assistant superintendent at California School for the Deaf, Riverside beginning 1978. President of the National Association of the Deaf 1986-1990. Wrote and published a 2006 book, Sands of Time: NAD Presidents 1880-2003.
