Summary
Suffered from severe depression, which eventually led her to attempt a murder-suicide by setting her home on fire with gasoline while her husband was away. Their 3-year-old daughter died in the fire, but Hutchinson survived, rescued by firefighters though badly burned. Police figured out she had set the blaze herself, and she was tried and pled guilty to manslaughter, the charge reduced because of her mental health. Since prison made no accommodations for mentally disturbed deaf people, the judge instead remanded her to 3 years in a mental health care center.
