Summary
Deaf since infancy; attended public schools 1959-1972, then Simon Fraser University 1972-1976 (B.S. in biology). Switched fields and got a diploma in teaching of the deaf, then taught at Jericho Hill Provincial School for the Deaf 1978-1982; M.A. 1982 and Ed.D. 1985 from the University of British Columbia. Following 1 year teaching at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, he became an associate professor in the teachers of the deaf program at Michigan State University 1986 onward. Member of the Gallaudet University Board of Trustees from about 1998 until his sudden early death. Author of Deaf Sport: The Impact of Sports Within the Deaf Community (1991).
