Born deaf at Truro, NS and attended the Interprovincial School for the Deaf 8 years before transferring to 2 different public schools with an interpreter, finally transferring to and graduating from the Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in 1995. Dyslexia was diagnosed at age 16 and she received private tutoring in addition to her regular schooling to help overcome it. Entered St. Mary's University in 1997, transferred to Dalhousie University in 1998, but dropped out of college before completing a degree. Worked in Venezuela 6 months as part of an international deaf youth program before returning to Canada, settling in Montreal, and learning Quebec Sign Language (LSQ). Employed by an Internet company, helping to maintain their web site.
