Summary
Born at Newburyport, MA; graduated Austine School for the Deaf 1971; B.A. (1978) from the University of Nevada at Reno, M.A. in linguistics from Gallaudet College in 1985, and Ph.D. from Union Institute in 1993. Teacher, consultant and presenter on ASL at Gallaudet; co-author of 4 books and many articles on ASL linguistics. Died of complications from AIDS at Miami, FL; buried in Seabrook, NH. Two scholarship funds at Gallaudet University honor his memory.
