Summary
Born at Georgetown, Ontario; educated at the Ontario Institution for the deaf, Belleville, 1891-1899 and the University of Toronto 1904-1909 (B.A.Sc.). Believed to be the first deaf Canadian to earn a degree from a hearing university. Apprenticed for a year in Toronto, then in 1908 began a printing business with a partner. The partnership was dissolved in 1910 and Shilton took over, naming it the Imperial Press and running it until his death 40 years later.
