Dodd, Barbara E.

Born deaf at Toronto; mainstreamed up into high school, but left out of frustration with oralism. Worked as a secretary and a summer camp counselor while taking courses to prepare for her ultimate objective of becoming a professional firefighter. Still barred from that profession as of 2002 because of rules against deafness, she was continuing efforts to change prejudices and get the regulations changed.
