Summary
Born deaf in Knoxville, TN; graduated the Tennessee School for the deaf; 1907-1924, operated a hardware and leather goods store in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico, where he received his nickname from the natives. The store was raided several times by Pancho Villa and his bandits. Returned to the U.S. and lived in various places, eventually dying in Phoenix, AZ.
