Summary
Born in New York City; at age 1, his Italian-born parents revisited their native country and left Anthony there with an uncle. He was sent back to America at age 6; deaf from brain fever at age 8. Went to an oral school at 44th and Broadway in NYC, without success; sent to the New York Institution for the Deaf and Dumb and succeeded there, graduating 1884 and gaining employment as a printer for 6 years. In 1890, was called to the print shop of the New York School and taught there. Married Caroline L. Brantigam, another NY School graduate, in 1897. Active in local deaf organizations.
