Hearing. B.A. from West Virginia Wesleyan College; M.A. (1975) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute; Ph.D. (1977), plus took law courses at University of Baltimore Law School 1967-1969. Became Director of General Services at Gallaudet College in 1971; promoted to Assistant Vice President of Administration and Business in 1978, then to full Vice President of same 1982-1984. Appointed acting President of Gallaudet College after the departure of W. Lloyd Johns (q.v.) in 1984, then became permanent President until leaving for private business in 1987. Gallaudet moved from College to University status (1986) during his term.
