Deafened by spinal meningitis at age 6; graduated Indiana School for the Deaf; Gallaudet B.A., 1983; administrator of post offices at Gallaudet College and then American University. Active in sports and socio-political associations and World Games for the Deaf. Coached the gold-medal-winning 1985 American basketball team. First Black member of the NAD Board of Directors, 1990. Became executive director of the West Virginia Commission for the Hearing Impaired from 1992 until his death from brain cancer in Dunbar, WV.
