Hearing; an Anglican minister. Sometimes claimed to be the first teacher of the deaf in England (but see, e.g., John of Beverly, for one earlier English teacher). Taught deaf 10-year-old Alexander Popham to speak; Holder described his method in an appendix to his book Elements of Speech (1669).
