Summary
Up to 1930, attended local public schools in Calgary, BC, then the Manitoba School for the Deaf at Winnipeg, 1930-1931. Attended Gallaudet College 1931-1933, leaving without a degree. Worked as a fruit grower, 1934-1939; in an aircraft factory and a machine gun plant during the war years; copy editor for the Toronto star for 5 years; diamond driller, then various newspaper jobs again, finally a factory welder for 20 years. In 1970s, converted old TTYs for deaf telephone use. Married Ruth Marion McKitrick, also deaf, in 1948.
