Summary
Deaf since infancy; grew up in Shanghai, China. At age 10, entered the Shanghai Hong Kou School for the Deaf; after graduating there, entered the Shanghai Youth Technical School for the Deaf. Won a prize for his first traditional Chinese painting in 1980. Tried to enter Chinese colleges to further his art education, but was rejected because of his deafness. In 1987, finally entered the Shanghai College of Light Industry, studying package design; after finishing there, worked at a corporation as a designer for labels, boxes, and other materials. Some of his work has been reproduced in Chinese publications. Came to American and attended Gallaudet University, graudating in 1997, and worked as a graphic artist and Web site designer for Gallaudet University after graduation.
