Price, Edmund M.

Born in New York City; deafened at age 2 by scarlet fever; student at the California School for the Deaf (Berkeley) and the Washington School for the Deaf; graduated from Gallaudet College. Was living in Los Angeles when he rescued a child from being struck by a streetcar, May 26, 1907; first deaf person to be awarded a Carnegie Hero Fund Commission medal (no.384); died in Los Angeles.
