Summary
Born deaf at Brandon, MB; attended the Saskatchewan School for the Deaf 1963-1965 and the Manitoba School for the Deaf 1965-1975. Took a college prep program at Red River College, then completed a 2-year diploma in child care service. Went to work as a teacher assistant at the Manitoba School for the Deaf. Married in 1980; raised a family while working part-time for 13 years as an ASL instructor. 1993-1998, entered a weekend college program to earn a bachelor's degree; upon completion, was hired to teach ASL to hearing high school students, but the program was dropped after its first year from staff cuts. Went back to teaching at the manitoba School.
