Summary
Deafened gradually in his teens; student at the Michigan and New York (Fanwood) schools for the deaf. Teacher for 3 years at the Iowa School for the deaf; instrumental in the founding of the South Dakota School for the deaf and served as its first superintendent, 1880-1903; died at Sioux Falls, SD. Brother of Delos A. Simpson (q.v.) and William Simpson [I] (q.v.).
