Summary
Born at Norway Grove, WI; deaf at 3 from a long illness. Home schooling was followed by the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, 1871, but this was interrupted in 1877 by the deaths of his brother and then his father. Entered Gallaudet College in 1880, but had to withdraw in 1881 at his widowed mother's request. Purchased a large part of his late father's farm and devoted himself to it, becoming a noted thresherman. Married A.W. Molster.
