Summary
Born deaf at Kilmarnock and educated at the Langside School for the Deaf in Glasgow. Served an apprenticeship as a brass finisher and remained in that trade for 24 years. Worked in missionary service to the deaf in Ayrshire, first on a voluntary basis, then from 1921 onward on a salaried basis until retirement in 1951.
