Deafened at 18; entered the Nebraska School for the deaf 1888, graduating the next year; Gallaudet College 1889-1895. Appointed supervisor of boys at the New York School for the Deaf (Fanwood), then a teacher in the Montana School for the deaf until going to the Nebraska School as a teacher. In, 1897, married Ella Budd.
