Summary
A full-blooded Osage Indian. Attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf for a while. Was the subject of a hearing by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in which her legal guardian, a lawyer, attempted to take over her inheritance by claiming she was "insane" and "an imbecile" simply because of being deaf, that all "deaf-mutes" were mentally incompetent. The court found she was mentally balanced, and ordered her and her estate placed under a new guardian and that better treatment be given to her.
