Summary
Deaf at 6; Maryland School for the Deaf, 1871 until graduation in 1878. After leaving school, became a stevedore for 9 years. Switched fields to a shoemaking shop in northern Baltimore, MD; took the shoemaking business to the Maryland Eastern Shore in 1899, but brought it back to Baltimore in 1902.
