Summary
Born on a Wisconsin farm; attended the Kansas, Wisconsin, and South Dakota schools for the deaf, graduating in 1892. In 1893, ventured out on his own as a portrait artist, later becoming an artist for a theatrical printing company. He then joined four other partners in establishing a successful printing and engraving company at La Crosse, WI. Married Louisa A. Diesburg in 1894.
