Summary
Born to deaf parents at Shreveport, LA. B.A. (1963) from Gallaudet College, M.A. (1971) from California State University, Northridge, and Ph.D. (1979) from Gallaudet. Began career as a teacher at the Louisiana School for the Deaf, then in New Jersey and Delaware where he implemented mainstreamed education for the deaf. At Gallaudet, worked as conference manger, director of outreach services, and director of enrollment activities. In 1991, moved to the Ohio School for the Deaf to become its superintendent. In 1998, elected president of the Conference of Educational Administrators Serving Schools and Programs for the Deaf.
