Summary
Attended the West Virginia School for the Deaf 3 years, then graduated the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in 1956. Attended Gallaudet College for 3 years but then dropped out to marry Verne Taylor. Trained for and then worked as a computer keypunch operator in the mid-1960s. Became involved with the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, eventually becoming vice president and then president. Divorced in the early 1970s and later married Henry Pollard. After several temporary jobs, went to work for Iron City Sash and Door Company in Pittsburgh, PA as a keypunch operator. After computer programming training, moved up to computer programmer there and finally senior programmer/systems analyst there before retirement in 2002. Active in many deaf organizations and served as president of the National Association of the Deaf 1998-2002.
