Ryan, Michael J.

Graduated the Scranton (PA) High School and Georgetown University; earned a Ph.D.; studied for the Catholic priesthood, but was not accepted by the canons because of his deafness. Wrote prose and poetry and also ghost-wrote sermons for other Catholic clergy. Was business manager of a Philadelphia home for hearing boys and looked after the spiritual concerns of that city's deaf people.
