Summary
Graduated Minnesota School for the deaf in 1882 and became editor of the Spring Valley (MN) Vidette, 1883-1885. Appointed to a position in the U.S. Census Bureau, assisting Edgar Allan Fay in his statistical survey of deaf Americans. In 1892, moved to the U.S. Treasury Dept. as an accountant, a position won by civil service examination.
